the beautiful bike weeks on Lake Como
July 7-14, 2019
September 8-15, 2019
In September 2018, our friend Peter from Seattle came to Lake Como for the first time with some of his clients from his indoor bike training studio, The Beautiful Bike. Peter and his friends became so enchanted that he knew he had to bring more people to this special region, not just once, but twice in 2019!
The Beautiful Bike Weeks are dedicated to his clients and friends who want to celebrate their hard work with Peter by riding some of the most beautiful roads in the world. All that hard summer training will pay off when you arrive at Hotel Il Perlo and have your first cappuccino on the patio then check out your Bottecchia for the week. You will have guided tours with ComoLagoBike Cycling Manager, Alberto Elli, a highly decorated former Italian pro cyclist who wore the Tour de France Yellow Jersey in 2000.
Alberto and the other guides will show you some of the best rides in the region - routes with long gentle climbs and others that take you spinning past lakeside villas and cafes. Did you know that the Patron Saint of Cyclists, the Madonna del Ghisallo, has a small chapel dedicated to her on the mountain where you’ll be staying? Your stay with us will not be complete until you make this pilgrimage and visit the Ghisallo Cycling Museum, too. Each ride will end with a scrumptious meal on Hotel Il Perlo’s veranda and the afternoon free to enjoy all that Lake Como has to offer. Add a few dinners at some of Bellagio's best restaurants and you'll realize why visitors plan their next visit before they leave!
Each week is the 7-Night Pro Half Board All-Inclusive package for €1,280, based on double-occupancy. Single-occupancy is available for an extra €30/night, so €1,490 for the 7 nights. There are 10 rooms available in July and 9 rooms available in September, so upwards of 18-20 spots available for each trip.

example Week’s Itinerary
The week is designed to be flexible to make your holiday on Lake Como as you like. There are options to ride every day as well as to participate in the non-cycling activities. You can take a rest day and see the lovely old center of Como, or spend a day strolling in the sun exploring the villas. Some people may want to challenge themselves by riding every day (Peter did!), and some ride only a few days so they do not miss out on other quintessential Lake Como sights. And if the afternoon sun gets to be too much, we’ll show you the best secret spot to jump in the lake.
Every evening, the next day’s routes are decided by the Cycling Manager so that everyone knows what will be on the schedule. The rides begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. For an idea of the routes, see the ComoLagoBike website.
Sunday: Arrive at Hotel Il Perlo. If time allows there will be a bike fitting later in the afternoon and perhaps a short spin.
Monday: The first ride of the week, typically a roll around one of the lakeside roads with unforgettable views of the lake, medieval hillside villages, and grand villas.
Tuesday: Ride a Medium level route of 3-4 hours.
Wednesday: Optional rest day or another Medium level route.
Thursday: It is nice once your legs are feeling strong to try a longer or more challenging Hard route. Do not worry, the guides will make you fly!
Friday: Another Medium or Hard level ride
Saturday: Optional rest day or final ride to see what you can do!
Sunday: Depart in the morning or afternoon for flights home or other destinations.
Activities for Non-Cyclists
For the non-cyclist in your family, there is no reason to miss out on this trip to northern Italy. Carlo, owner of Hotel Il Perlo, has created a special 7-Night all-inclusive package for non-cycling partners to enjoy other activities such as guided hamlet walking tours, food and wine tasting, villa hopping by ferry, shopping, woodland hikes, and more. The days are designed with morning to early afternoon activities so that everyone reconvenes after lunch to spend the rest of their day and evening together.
Example Day’s Schedule:
7:30am - 9am: Breakfast buffet at Hotel Il Perlo
9:30am – 1pm: Option A: Guided cycling tour, Option B: Guided walking tour of Bellagio
1pm - 2pm: Lunch at Hotel Il Perlo
Afternoon: Ferry to visit Villa Carlotta
8pm: Dinner at Hotel Il Perlo
We will be in touch before the trip to discuss what activities you may like and if any need a reservation ahead of time. Take a look at my Off-the-Bike Activities page to see what else awaits you on Lake Como.
